An oval face is slightly longer than it is wide, with gently rounded contours and a jaw a little narrower than the forehead. Balanced proportions mean most frame shapes work — the main consideration is scale.
How to tell if you have a oval face
- Pull your hair back and stand facing a mirror in good light.
- Trace the outline of your face on the mirror with a washable marker, or take a straight-on photo.
- Compare the width of your forehead, cheekbones and jaw, and the overall length of your face.
Frame shapes to try
Square frames
Defined angles add structure to soft contours.
Rectangle frames
A classic, balanced choice for everyday wear.
Geometric frames
Experimental shapes are easy to pull off with balanced features.
Approach with care
Frames much wider than your face, or very deep lenses, can throw off the natural balance.
Face shape is a starting point, not a rule. Fit, colour and personal style matter just as much — if you love a frame, try it with our Virtual Try-On.
Fit still comes first
Whatever the shape, the frame should be roughly as wide as your face, your eyes should sit near the centre of each lens, and the temples should rest on your ears without pinching. See our frame measurement guide for numbers to compare.
