Small adjustments can make a big difference to comfort. Work slowly and gently; if you are unsure, a local optician can usually adjust frames for you.
Common fixes
-
1
Glasses slide down
For metal frames, gently pinch the nose pads closer together. For acetate, a warm-air adjustment of the temple tips by an optician helps.
-
2
Glasses sit crooked
Place them on a table upside down. If one temple lifts, bend the opposite temple down very slightly at the hinge.
-
3
Pressure behind ears
Temple tips may be bent too sharply; an optician can relax the curve.
-
4
Loose hinges
Tighten hinge screws with a precision screwdriver — a quarter turn is often enough.
Never heat frames with boiling water or an open flame. Rimless and titanium frames are best adjusted by a professional.
